Special thanks to Robert Bucheler, our friend from Beerwick-Upon-Tweed, England and hismother Kathleen, who listens faithfully every week to our Bible Voice Europe and Bible Voice Russiabroadcasts and sends us a reception report. This is such a blessing to have someone listening and report- ing back to us, and Robert has done this for over 15 years. Also a special thanks to Professor Ed fromIndia who listens faithfully to our broadcast from Sri Lanka. Thanks and God bless! Thanks to each of you for making it possible for us to begin our 54th year of broadcasting thegospel throughout the world. Ed is the voice of GIJAPA and speaks to us through his powerful sermonswritten during his 70 years preaching! I could not do what I am doing without being encouraged dailyby my two children: Eric who keeps all of GIJAPA's equipment: computers, copiers, printers, cell phonesin excellent condition and Melanie with her typing and proofreading skills of the monthly newsletterfor Cox Printing Company. Have a wonderful holiday season and always remember Jesus is the Reason for the Season. U UUn nnd dde eer rr t tth hhe ee T TTr rre eee ee been December 25th as any other day. People usually get gifts on their birthday so it seems logical to give gifts to Jesus on His birthday rather than to each other. Should you decide to give a special gift to the Lord on His birthday, why not in the spirit of the season place the gift under the tree of GIJAPA? There is a tree provided in the scripture for that purpose. Peter tells us in Acts the fifth chapter, “Whom also ye slew hanging Him on a tree.” Then John tells us in the place where He was crucified there was a garden. And that reminds us that there December the twenty-fifth is the birthday of the Lord. was a tree in the Garden of Eden called the tree of life. The Just in case some folk think we don’t know any better it tree in the garden where He was crucified is also the tree needs to be pointed out that we don’t know what day the of life. When Adam and Eve sinned and were driven out of Lord was born, but HE was born and it might as well have the Garden of Eden the Lord put Cherubim at the tree of life with a flaming sword which turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life lest Adam should eat of it and live forever. Yonder on the bloody branch of Calvary’s tree Hangs the fruit that sinners may eat and live forever. Jesus said, “He that eateth My flesh and drinketh My blood Hath eternal life and I will raise him up at the last day.” The real Christmas tree is the tree in the garden where He was crucified. I hope many of you will join me as I place my special gift to the Lord Jesus under the TREE on the day that we celebrate His birth. And remember these words of Paul regarding the birth of our Lord, “Have this mind in you which was also in Christ Jesus: who existing in the form of God, counted not the being on an equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men; and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea the death on the cross.” E.B. KING OF KINGS The wise men came to Jerusalem looking for the King. They found the King at Bethlehem: Jesus was King in the cradle. Jesus was also King on the cross: there was a sign that Pilate put on the Cross that proclaimed Him, “King of the Jews.” Jesus was King at the triumphal entry in the fulfillment of the prophecy, “Behold thy King cometh unto thee.” Jesus was King of the Church: in Acts 17 the charge was made that Paul and Silas said, “There is another King, one Jesus.” Jesus will be King at His second coming: in Revelation 19. He is portrayed in His coming again, “As King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” Jesus is King on the Judgment Day: twice we are told, “And the King said unto them.” The King in the cradle affected people in different ways. When Herod heard of the arrival of the newborn King he was troubled and all Jerusalem with Him. Herod was all shook up by a baby. If Herod was all shook up before the King had preached one sermon, worked one miracle, and arose from the dead, what will it be like when he is dragged out of his grave and sees the King come in His glory with all the angels? The arrival of the King affected the wise men in a better way. They fell down and worshiped Him. They did not worship Mary, they worshiped Him. Another great teaching of their worship is the fact that when they worshiped Him, they also gave to Him. True worship includes giving to Him. Someone has pointed out that true worship does not exist apart from sacrifice. “They gave unto Him gold, and frankincense and myrrh.” The gold of the wise men was greatly needed, although the wise men did not realize it at the time. Joseph was told to flee to Egypt until Herod was dead. That gold no doubt financed the journey and sus tained his family until they returned to Nazareth. Paul tells us the church is the body of Jesus. If the physical body of the little King needed gold, it is also true that the church body also needs the gift of gold today to finance the preaching of the message of the King. We at GIJAPA are grateful for the sacrificial support of the many who make this work possible. E.B. W WWH HHE EER RRE EE I IIS SS T TTH HHO OOM MMA AAS SS? ?? Where is Thomas? Acts 20:7, “And upon the first day of the week, we were gathered together to break bread...” First Corinthians 11:25. “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink the cup ye proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” Luke 22:19, “This do in remembrance of Me.” In the New Testament the celebration of the resurrection was not a one Sunday of the year occurrence on a day called Easter. Nor was there such a thing as a resurrection Sunday that occurred once a year. The celebration of the resurrection of Jesus was an every Sunday event. On the Sunday that Jesus arose from the dead He appeared in person to the Apostles and Thomas was absent. John 20:21, “But Thomas was not with them when Jesus came.” Suppose you had been present when the Apostles met on that Resurrection Day. You look around and you see that someone is missing. You say, “Where is Thomas?” Someone says, “Thomas is sick.” “What is the matter with him? Heart attack?” “Oh, no, he is just feeling a little under the weather. He will be able to go to work tomorrow, but he is just a little too sick to be in services.” Think of what Thomas missed, Jesus came! Suppose again that you had met with the Apostles on that memorable day. You look around and see that someone is missing and you say, “Where is Thomas?” Someone says, “Oh, he intended to come, but he had to go to the game. He will be here next week, if there is, no game.” Think of what Thomas missed, Jesus came. Then again suppose you had been present the day of the Resurrection and noticed that one of the Apostles was missing and you said, “Where is Thomas?” “Oh, he said he did not want to come and associate with a hypocrite like Peter. It is common knowledge that he cursed and denied the Lord. He may never come back again.” Think of what Thomas missed, Jesus came! Then think of all those people with a Thomas complex today when the Church assembles on the Lord’s Day. Think of all those people who miss the assembly because of a headache, or to go to the game or because of the hypocrites. Think of what they will miss on that day if it be said, “JESUS CAME!” E.B. A AA T TTi iin nn H HHo oor rrn nn C CCh hhr rri iis sst ttm mma aas ss The Christmas season gives us pause as we reflect on Christmas’s past. As a child my mother used to say that the best Christmas we ever had was the year I got the electric train. I remember the electric train and I also remember that I was too young to understand how to work it. I recall that Dad was the one who played with It while I watched in wonder as it ran around the track. I also remember another Christmas when we were not so prosperous. It was the Tin Horn Christmas. During the depths of the great depression I was standing on the front porch and Dad came home and before going in the house he handed me a tin horn. In fact he had three tin horns that cost ten cents apiece. One tin horn was for me, and one for my sister, and one for my brother. Dad announced that times were hard and this was all he could afford and since I was the oldest I would understand. He was probably so depressed by his financial situation that he had not bothered to wrap them up and then again he more than likely could not afford wrapping paper. In retrospect, I often think of this when we spend several hundred dollars on the grandchildren at Christmas time. The thought that is in my mind is would Amanda, Casey, and Emily understand if I told them the best Christmas I ever had was the Christmas of 1930. Should they ask why; I would tell them; “That is the year that I had received a very valuable Christmas gift—a little tin horn that cost ten cents.” E.B. DECEMBER BOUSMAGRAM DECEMBER 1999 ITEM ONE: A friend of mine one time told me of some horse fanciers in our area that had a meeting. Horse fanciers being folk, who rode horses, went to racetracks, bet on horses, just plain liked horses or maybe had a hobbyhorse. They decided to set a date and put on the feed bag. At this dinner since they were all horse lovers they decided to have horsemeat as the entree. So when the big day arrived they assembled to eat horsemeat steaks. Now they did not know that the cook had decided to pull a switch. He gave them regular beefsteaks instead and did not tell them they were not getting horsemeat. So the aforesaid horse fanciers chowed down on the beef thinking it was horse. They all enjoyed it very much and each horse fancier said to the other, I never realized that horsemeat was so delicious. One of them said that he agreed. This horsemeat is just as good as beef any day. In fact, if I did not know any better I would think it was beef if it were not for that wild taste. Many people believe what their minds have been programmed to believe. Programmed by preachers, family, and television. Programmed by anything and everybody except the Bible. They are given a horsemeat response to the gospel. On the day of Pentecost when the gospel was preached and people said, Men and brethren what shall we do? They actually believe that Peter said, Bow your heads and ask Jesus to save you. I have heard it so many times that I am tempted to believe it myself and would if only it was not for that wild taste. If you will just turn in your Bible and read Acts 2:38 you will see for yourself just how wild the horsemeat gospel is. ITEM TWO: We live in a strange country. A country where people object to executing murderers. The same country sees nothing wrong in executing innocent babies. We have out Pharoahed Pharoah, we have out Heroded Herod, and we have out Hitlered Hitler. It seems to me if they want to execute innocent babies, they would want to execute guilty murderers and rapists. The first law God gave to the human race after the flood was: Whose sheddeth man’s blood by man shall his blood be shed. ITEM THREE: A listener from Sussex, England witnessed to a lady and told her of our radio program. He said he told her that to be saved a person must have full water immersion. The lady says that she was baptized by infant dribble and that she believes she is saved. He says this lady has never heard of the Acts book that Luke wrote and that I may be hearing from her soon. ITEM FOUR: Radio Station WIBC Indianapolis, Indiana faxed us recently that the number of our listeners in the past year has increased dramatically. Arbitron ratings show that we have 12,700 persons who listen on that station at 7:30 A.M. on Sunday mornings. ITEM FIVE: Did you know there are two plans of salvation? There is the one in the Bible and then there is an alternate plan. I just received the alternate plan in the mail in time to include it in this month’s Bousmagram. Here it is: The writer from a Church in Richmond, Virginia says; “If you have never trusted Jesus Christ for your salvation, you can pray something like this today: Lord, thank You for sending Jesus Christ to die for my sins and rise from the dead so that I can know your forgiveness and live with you forever. Right now I ask Him to be my Savior so that I can live as the special creation that you intended me to be.” The other plan is the one in the New Testament in Acts 2:38. It may sound a little repetitious, but here it is anyway. “Repent ye and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Somebody gives the alternate plan by the name of Ted. The New Testament plan was given by somebody by the name of Peter. Take your pick and I hope you make it. E.B. Del Valle, TX Reception Report for our Short Wave program from Germany: I listen to your English language programme to Europe almost every weekend. The broadcasting time in the mornings is very convenient and reception quality is great, like a local station. Messages in the programme - God Is Just A Prayer Away every Sunday are always very impressive. They have a big knowledge about things moving on in the world and always use good illustrations to make difficult scriptures more clear. They often provide surprising views to the stories in the Bible to discover and understand the most important messages from it. By the way, bout 15 years ago, Ed Bousman sent me an English language Bible on request after listening to one of the “God Is Just A Prayer Away” programmes over short wave station Bible Voice Europe. Since then this book is one of my most read books. It tells me the word of God but it also helps me to improve my knowledge of English language, when reading same time my German language Bible. The name of the message was “The Foolishness of God”. We need to remember what Paul said in 1st Corinthians in the 1st Chapter and 5th chapter of 2nd Kings: Naaman healed of Leprosy. Peter told them under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit baptize them. Please send the regular programme schedule. Ralf from Eisleben, Germany. (Pan American Broadcasting that broadcasts the short wave programs for GIJAPA, tells us for every letter we receive from a listener there are 1,000 more that listen and never write in! Thanks for making it possible for GIJAPA to carry out the Great Commission not only in US but around the world!) Matthew 28:18-20 (ASV) 18 And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
